Limitations

If there's anything life teaches is we are limited under our conditions of possibility.

We are finite beings with the desire of being infinite.

Some people see that as a problem and try overcoming the boundaries of what they can do. We admire the climber, the jumper, someone standing for what he or she believes, and often wonder "I'm just a regular person. There's nothing special about me".

Let me tell you with all the letters... YOU'RE WRONG.

You are unique

There's no one in this entire universe with the same genetic heritage, not even your twin brother in case you have one.

You are alive

Life is the possibility of experiencing the world. And there are infinite possibilities of making our lives worth. Small acts of love can change the world in unthinkable ways. Or maybe change the world of that person I smile at, or pick up something she dropped, give my place in the bus to someone else, waiting while someone crosses the street. Every action in our daily live bears the possibility of being an act of love showing us we're alive.

You are self-aware

Just look less toward the screen of your smartphone and try for a long period to look around. There's so much life around you.

Ok.

I imagine someone working at the office, or open space. Is there any “life around”? Oh, but there is! Maybe it's that colleague who’s tired. You notice and ask if he wants a coffee. Or that other one looking sad and you offer him comfort. As humans, we’re born to self-awareness. We just have to use it to enrich the life of those surrounding us and nature.

You can learn to lose

“What!?! Maybe you would like to say I’m a winner, instead, right?” - but I am saying that! Those who truly win in life are always willing to lose. The reason is detachment. Some people are so focused on winning that fail to see how many people they step to achieve that goal. When we learn to lose, we develop this sense of freedom from the prison of wining all the time. Our happiness doesn’t lie in winning the game, but playing it.

You are normal

“Isn’t that bad?” - Why?

In a world where everyone wants to be out of the ordinary, being normal is special. There is beauty in “normality”, because true greatness is played in our daily lives.

Not in special moments although they’re good.

Not in great events although they’re sometimes necessary.

If most of our days are “normal”, and we aren’t able to enjoy them, then we become unhappy. Finding joy in normality is a major challenge and those who do live truly free.

There’s one last thing you need to overcome limitations.

Acceptance

Not resignation, but accept who you are and understand that beauty lies in relationships, not in appearance, boldness, rhetorics. We are relational beings, more than rational. And once we take our self to the stage of selflessness, no one can tell how high we’ll climb, how long we’ll jump, how persuasive we can be…
