Absolute Truths

Once a friend told me a Nobel Prize winner said in a conference "there are no absolute truths".

Well... his wrong. Why?

He died didn't he? Yes, he did.

Dying is for us humans an absolute truth.

This writer was an atheist and his expression purposefully wanted to attack believers in God as an Absolute Truth, but this made me realize even the best writers can miss the big picture of reality. Nobody possesses the absolute truth, but it doesn't mean they don't exist.

Truth is the ultimate search for every self-conscious being (yep, I'm including aliens). But how do you know when something is part of the Truth?

People rely on science because it seems the most solid and robust boat to go through that storm, but even science fails. Gosh! It's built on hundreds, thousands, millions of failures before reaching success! Every good scientist knows it. So, despite being a reliable path to the Truth, it's like moving through a field of brambles and hope not getting stung. "Can you bleed? You will" (love this Batman quote to Superman).

I'm guessing by now you’re thinking "there he goes saying that Religion a more safe and right path to reach the Truth", right?

Wrong. Religion is no better than science. A religious person is immersed in doubts every single minute of the day. His faith is being constantly challenged by misunderstanding, suffering, pain and death. Prayers that seem to be unheard, mobiles ringing during consecration that produce spiritual noise, religious people with sad faces, people killing others by killing themselves in the name of religious ideals, etc. In this strange world, you think it's easy being a believer? Get over it. The only reason in the middle of all these murky waters is a profound inner experience of a Truth beyond ourselves and shared with others. It is a different face of the Truth compared to science. It's a deeper experience of Truth.

Ok. Science and Religion are hard paths to get some insight into Truth, but are they able to make sure it's an Absolute Truth? No way as far as I know.

Just a thought.

Absolute truths are radical experiences

that change your world forever.

If you die, your world is changed forever. Thus, dying is an absolute truth. But, you know, aren't you alive? If you're reading these poorly written words, you're either alive, or asleep, which is a way of being alive. Life changes your world forever. Thus, life is an absolute truth.

Life. Death. Opposites with a common ground. Both are absolute truths. But there's a third absolute truth... you don't know everything! And this can also change your world forever. There’s so much to be known. We're guided by an insatiable desire to know. Look at how far we came. Haven’t we changed the world forever with our search for knowledge? The following question is whether we changed it for better or worst. I won’t judge the humanity I am an integral part, but only acknowledge that we must develop our ethical and respectful minds to ensure a better and brighter future.
